Cross-country skiing is one of the most popular activities in Tierra del Fuego and can be enjoyed by professionals and amateurs of all ages.
The snowy valleys and the longest winter season in South America (from July to September) provide the best conditions for the practice of this sport, and for this reason, Ushuaia has been declared the National Capital of Cross-Country Skiing. There are two slopes for the practice of this sport in Tierra del Fuego:

Pista Jerman, which belongs to the Club Andino Ushuaia, is located just 15 minutes from downtown Ushuaia. Located in an area of peat bogs,  this slope has an extension of 14 kilometers, divided into 4 circuits of 7.5 km; 5 km; 3.5 km and 2.5 km.

The Provincial Cross Country Ski Slope  is located in the Tierra Mayor Valley Natural  Reserve, 20 kilometers west of Ushuaia.  Along its 22 kilometers you can find the winter centers Cerro Castor, Tierra Mayor, Las Cotorras and Llanos del Castor, which provide equipment rental services, ski lessons and access to the slope.

Haruwen winter center has been incorporated to the Provincial Cross-Country Ski Slope, which for the first time conects all the winter centers of the Tierra Mayor Valley, providing a unique space for cross-country skiing.
It is worth mentioning that in this circuit a traditional cross-country skiing event called Marchablanca takes place every year, with skiers from all over the world coming to take part in the competition.
