Useful tips to plan your trip to Tierra del Fuego

Currency:  Argentine Peso. Payments in US Dollars, Euros, and Reais are also accepted. Link and Banelco ATMs are available in all three locations.

Voltage:  Voltage is 220 V and plugs are TYPE I.

Supermarkets:  Due to ecological and environmental protection measures, supermarkets do not deliver plastic bags; as an alternative, all of them sell recyclable bags.

Public transportation:  In both Ushuaia and Río Grande there are urban bus lines, as well as taxi services. The SUBE card can be used in buses.

Cyclists: Ushuaia does not have bike paths, and there is usually a high traffic of vehicles in town, so caution is recommended.  The city of Rio Grande does have bike paths, but the weather can be very windy. Those visitors who plan to bike along National Route N 3, should consider factors such as changing weather conditions, lack of phone signal in some areas, and constant traffic of heavy vehicles.

Provincial Routes: the routes under the province's jurisdiction are not paved, so it is necessary to drive with caution on the gravel road in order to avoid accidents.
