The Argentine area of the island, which includes Isla de los Estados, has a surface of 21,571 square kilometers. To the North, the province of Tierra del Fuego is bordered by the Strait of Magellan, to the East by the Atlantic Sea, and to the West and South by the Beagle Channel and the Republic of Chile.
The province's territory also includes an area of Antarctica claimed by Argentina and a group of islands located in the South Atlantic (Malvinas Islands, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands).
Ushuaia, the capital of Tierra del Fuego, is located 3,079 kilometers from Buenos Aires and 1,000 kilometers from the Antarctic Peninsula.
