The skies of Tierra del Fuego are famous among adventure and aviation lovers.  Since the German aviator Gunther Pluschow documented the first flight over these southern lands, the passion for flying grew amongst locals until it became one of the most popular activities on the island.

During the flight you will see rivers, lakes, forests, mountains, the Beagle Channel and its islands unfolding before your eyes.

By helicopter or plane, there are different options to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Tierra del Fuego from the heights.

Fly over Ushuaia

This flight goes over the city from west to east, giving you the chance to see the imposing mountain range that surrounds Ushuaia, the forests, and the Beagle Channel from a unique perspective. The highlights include the Martial Glacier, Mount Olivia, Mount Cinco Hermanos, the Pipo River Valley and the National Park to the west.

Fly over the valleys

This flight heads east towards the Río Olivia Valley, where the majestic Mount Olivia and Mount Cinco Hermanos can be seen from another angle. Then you can see the Carbajal Valley, and fly over a mountain range where Laguna Esmeralda is located. This lagoon is a popular spot for for hikers and photographers during summer and autumn, due to the bright emerald color of its waters.

For those who wish to enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the mountain range, there is the option of landing at the top of Cerro Le Cloché, where passengers can descend and take photographs of the landscape.

Fly Over the Lakes

Heading to the central zone of the island, you will fly over Lake Escondido, Santa Laura, San Ricardo and Margarita lagoons. Further ahead, you will see the town of Tolhuin, and Lake Fagnano, one of the largest lakes in South America.

Other itineraries

There are other flights of longer duration, which cover the area of Puerto Almanza, Estancia Harberton, Estancia Moat, and Remolino.  The longest flight lasts a full day and goes eastwards, flying over the Mitre Peninsula and crossing the Le Maire Strait.

Already in the South Atlantic Ocean, you can see Isla de los Estados (Staten Island), home of the famous "Lighthouse at the End of the World" ,described by Jules Verne in his 1901 novel. The tour continues over fjords, cliffs and the Chilean islands of Lennox, Nueva and Picton, and then returns to Tierra del Fuego.

It should be noted that all flights are subject to weather conditions , so it is necessary to contact the tour operator in advance.
