The eastern tip of Tierra del Fuego is one of the most remote and challenging areas. Designated as a Natural Protected Area in 2022, the Mitre Peninsula has landscapes that have remained pristine and impollute due to their remoteness. This region is characterized by vast peat bogs, native forests, rivers, beaches, and cliffs, which together create one of the island's most rugged and fascinating sceneries.

Current permitted activities on the peninsula include trekking and horseback riding. Both must be booked through official authorized operators for safety and enviromental regulations.

Expedition itineraries include Bahía Aguirre, Bahía Sloggett, the Cape San Pío lighthouse, and shipwreck sites such as that of the Duchess of Albany. The season to explore the Mitre Peninsula runs from November to April, when weather conditions allow access to the reserve.
