When

In the center of the town of Tolhuin, you can explore the "Paseo del Ecotono", a self-guided trail with information panels. One of the highlights of this path is the Cami Lagoon, a place where canoeing and kayaking are practiced in summer and ice skating in winter. Peat bogs native flora and birds can be seen along the trail, which has a lenght of 800 meters. It's a low difficultad hike that takes about an hour, and its name comes from the term ecotone, which is a transition between two different ecosystems, the steppe and the mountain.

De la Ruca" Trail: located in the "Corazón de la Isla" Natural Reserve, this trail crosses an area that has been used for forestry activities for the last 45 years. During the hike it is possible to spot the Giant Woodpecker (Campephilus magellanicus), the Rayadito (Aphrastura spinicauda), the Patagonian Woodpecker (Pygarrhichas albogularis), or the Patagonian Thrush (Turdus flacklandii), among other species of birds.
This is an easy hike, and at the starting point there is a parking area and information panels. There are benches along the trail, which has a total length of 1.2 kilometers (one way) and an approximate duration of 40 minutes.
