The long hours of winter darkness create an special atmosphere to do outdoor activities. At just 20 kilometres from Ushuaia, the Tierra Mayor Natural Reserve is where most of the winter centres are located. Here you can take an excursion or just enjoy the local gastronomy at their restaurants. During the season, activities such as snowshoeing, dog sledding and rides in snowcats are available when evening comes.

By the light of lanterns and accompanied by a guide, the experience of exploring the snowy trails of the forest is unforgettable. The pristine air and the nocturnal quietness, all the noises of daily rush silenced. If the skies are clear, you can gaze at the moon and stars over the Sierra Alvear mountain range. If it's snowing, the tour will have that special winter charm as the snowflakes fall on the trees. The evening ends with a dinner by a fireplace in a cozy restaurant, tasting some local dishes such as lamb or trout.
