The Andes mountain range ends in the Southern area of  Tierra del Fuego, and offers to winter sport lovers an ideal scenario to enjoy snow and adrenaline.

Ushuaia has a modern ski resort a few kilometers away from downtown and a wide offer of accommodation to spend a comfortable stay.  There are transfer services and taxis that conect the city with the winter centres located in the Tierra Mayor Valley, a place where you can fully enjoy winter activities, tours and an excellent gastronomy, surrounded by the snowy peaks of Cerro Bonete and Cerro Alvear.

For experienced skiers and  snowboarders, the slopes of Cerro Krund are perfect to make thrilling descents. The most challenging slope is the one called Cóndor, which has an altitude of 2.500 meters.  The ski resort Cerro Castor, where this slope is located, offers an exciting experience called "Heli-ski board", a transfer by helicopter to the top of the mountain.

For those who would like to learn to ski , there are instructors and equipment rental service at the ski resort and also at the Escuela de Esquí Ushuaia,  located in the Martial Glacier Natural Reserve, just a few kilometers from the city's centre.

Every year Ushuaia hosts international cross-country ski  competitions that take place in the Tierra Mayor Valley. The main slope known as PIPEF, has a lenght of more than 20 kilometers and  runs through the  valley conecting  several winter centres.
