National Park and End of the World Train

Tierra del Fuego National Park invites you to enter an unforgettable postcard and enjoy the winter and the nature of the End of the World.

In winter, the southernmost National Park in Argentina becomes a fascinating scenery of white forests, crystal clear waters and snow-capped peaks.

Here you can stroll along the shores of Lake Acigami, and enjoy the sunset over the waters or take a short hike through the forest and discover a different landscape under the snow. One of the most popular hikes leads to the shores of Beagle Channel, where you can watch different species of birds that inhabit the park.

Whenever you need to take a rest and warm up, the Alakush Visitor Center has a restaurant and a cafe, and a viewpoint on its first floor where you can take the best selfies.

A visit to the Park can be combined with a ride on the End of the World Train. This tour, aboard an vintage steam locomotive, will take you through the Río Pipo Valley on a 7 kilometers ride that follows the same route that the inmates of Ushuaia's old prison used to do 100 years ago, to supply firewood to the town.

The tour starts at the Ferrocarril Austral Fueguino Station, located 8 kilometers west of Ushuaia, and ends at the borders of the Tierra del Fuego National Park. From the wagon's window you will see the white landscape passing by : snowy lenga trees, the remains of an old bridge, a winding river and the Station "La Macarena".

At this stop  you can get off the train and take a quick stroll to a viewpoint or you can follow the stairs until you reach a beautiful waterfall called La Macarena. Back in the wagon, there is nothing better than enjoying a hot chocolate or a coffee, while listening to the history of the old prisoners' train on an audio guide.

The ride ends at the border of the National Park and then you can choose between going back to the station on the train or hike to the entrance of the reserve.
