One kilometer away from Paso Garibaldi, driving along National Route Nº3, you will reach a very sharp bend, known as "La Herradura" (The Horseshoe). In this place, on the right hand side, there is a small parking lot from where you can access the trails.
The trail enters a dense forest and goes uphill through slopes, some gentle and others with stony sectors, with mud, peat and exposed roots, as well as very humid areas that require the use of waterproof boots to avoid accidents.
The last few meters of the trail are over the vegetation limit, from where you can see the two high altitude lagoons.
Other information of interest:
During a large part of the trail we walk along the edge of the stream that flows down from the Laguna de los Perros.
