Located at a few kilometers west of Ushuaia, the Tierra del Fuego National Park is the only natural reserve in the country that has a coastline. During autumn the forests turn red and gold, and show a sharp contrast with the ice blue waters of Acigami/Roca lake.
A net of low difficult trails will take you to landscapes of rivers, peatbogs, lagoons, mountains and the Beagle Channel. While you’re hiking, it is possible to see some local fauna, specially birds, which are always a delight for photography lovers. Sometimes you can even see red foxes and the elusive huillín, both native species of the island.
If you wish to take a break and have something warm to eat, the Alakush Visitors Center has a cafe and a restaurant where you can taste the local gastronomy. On the upper level of the building there is a viewpoint and information panels, a good spot to take pictures and selfies. To get access to the National Park you have to buy a ticket.
