The Environmental Organization Aves Argentinas has developed the Observer's Code of Behavior that provides us with a series of practical recommendations that we would like to share:
• The preservation of birds comes before the pleasure of the birder: avoid disturbing them and modifying their environment.
• Know and respect local laws and the peculiarities of the local people.
• Contribute to bird knowledge by sharing your records and observations.
• Take special care when dealing with rare and endangered birds.
• Be an ambassador for birding.
It is recommended to:
• Carry only the essentials in a small backpack, so as to leave your hands free.
• Protect yourself from insects and the sun with clothing that covers your entire body.
• Avoid bright and flashy colors.
• Wear a hat or cap.
• Be well informed about the characteristics of the destination.
• Eat lightly.
• Carry some drinking water.
• Wrap the most sensitive equipment with a plastic bag.
• Plan to go out in groups of at least three people, but not too many.
• Walk in silence.
• Never separate from the group without prior notice or agreement from the rest.
• Avoid unfamiliar routes. Do not approach dangerous edges.
• The most suitable times are dawn and dusk.
Clothing
For the correct development of the activity, it is suggested to wear comfortable clothing and footwear, preferably in discreet and not too attention-getting. As in all extreme sports and mountaineering, technical clothing should be worn, taking into account at least a two-layer outfit. Breathable and warm materials, in addition to waterproof jackets and sports collars will serve as protection. Also, binoculars, sunglasses, hat or cap, sunscreen and full of enthusiasm to have a good time.
