The Urban Nature Reserve "Punta Popper" is located in the city of Rio Grande, and is part of the Hemispheric Network of Reserves for Shorebirds, so it has the status of protected area. It is one of the most important sites in the whole Reserve for its great concentration and diversity of birds, especially migratory shorebirds such as the Sea Becasa, the Red Knot and the White-rumped Sandpiper. It is also a nesting area for the Southern Bandurria, the Common Goose, the Peregrine Falcon and the Double-collared Plover. The trail is delimited by a slightly eroded path, and has informative signs to guide visitors. Hikers are requested not to leave the path or head towards the coast, as the tide tends to rise quickly. The presence of strong winds may cause difficulties on the trail.
